A ‘suspected stabbing’ in Newcastle has seen one person be taken to hospital after a major 999 response. The incident, on Melbourne Street, saw several Northumbria Police and North East Ambulance Service vehicles descend on the area.

ChronicleLive understands that the incident has been a stabbing, with the emergency services called to the scene just before 3.30pm. Both an ambulance crew, and a Hazardous Area Response Team unit were deployed to the area.

Photographs taken at the scene show those two NEAS crews, as well as four Northumbria Police vehicles parked at the side of the road. The condition of the person who has been taken to hospital is unclear at this time, and we are awaiting further information.
