Wigan Warriors boss Matt Peet believes his side were outplayed in every area this afternoon after a shock defeat to Huddersfield Giants.
The table-topping Warriors were second best against the bottom of the table Giants, who produced a stellar performance to pull off one of the biggest upsets of the season so far.
The returning duo of Niall Evalds and Adam Clune produced a masterclass to help their side, who are still without a coach after Luke Robinson’s sacking.
Peet’s men managed to cross for three tries in the match, but it would not be enough to take the two points, in one of Wigan’s worst displays under their current boss.
Losing out 34-16, Peet spoke to Sky Sports to assess the defeat, and said few words, highlighting his disappointment.
“We were poor, others were very good, and we got exactly what we deserved,” said a frustrated Wigan boss.
“We got a lesson in the first half of the York game that you only need to be a little bit off, and we were hoping to get a more sustained performance than the York one, and we actually got a worse one.
“We didn’t ever put together either good enough attacking to defence or vice versa, so today we were way off.
Showing respect to their victorious opponents, the boss said: “They beat us up. They beat us physically, they beat us in terms of kicking game, and I thought they were more intelligent than us sometimes.
“We were making efforts as individuals or trying to shortcut the game, and they didn’t do that. They had a plan, they stuck to it, and credit to them. They’ve had a tough year, and they deserve the win today.”
