Emmerdale spoilers follow for Thursday’s episode (7 August), which is available to watch now on streaming service ITVX and YouTube, and hasn’t yet aired on TV.

Emmerdale has aired a sudden exit for a major character, as the fallout between Steph Miligan and Ross Barton continues.

The pair rekindled their romantic relationship this week. However, while Ross previously told Steph that he hadn’t been with anyone else when they were apart, she soon found out that he’d slept with Manpreet during this time.

Manpreet apologised to Ross for making things awkward between him and Steph in today’s episode, explaining that she didn’t even know they were back together.

The pair agreed to erase their one-night stand from memory, but Steph caught them laughing and grew even more annoyed.

Ross desperately attempted to make amends and made it clear there was nothing going on between him and Manpreet, but Steph said that she could no longer trust him.

Steph told her parents that this drama with Ross has set her back in her recovery journey – so Caleb decided to confront him about the situation.

Ross admitted that he loves Steph and would do anything for her, but Caleb urged him to leave her alone and allow her to move forward.

Later, Steph had some big news for her mum and dad, announcing that she had booked a yoga retreat in Rome and intended to do some travelling afterwards, in need of some downtime away from the village.

Caleb and Ruby were shocked that Steph was set to leave that evening, but they knew that they had no choice but to let her go.

Ross later called round to see Lewis, who told him about Steph’s travel plans, and he concluded that it was probably for the best, as Caleb had told him to stay away.

But hapless romantic Lewis remained adamant that there was a serious connection between Ross and Steph and encouraged his brother not to give up so easily.

Ross changed his mind and decided to catch Steph before she left, and he found her saying her goodbyes to Caleb and Ruby.

Steph got into a taxi and exited the village, but how were things left with Ross?

Fans can watch the episode in full on ITVX and YouTube now or wait for it to air on ITV1 at 7.30 tonight.

This is a temporary exit for Steph, as actor Georgia Jay begins her maternity leave, after announcing her pregnancy earlier this year.

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
