A four-division world champion is determined to make return to the top level of the sport.
Boxing is hard to leave, and fans watch on as many former fighters lace up the gloves for a return after stints out of the ring. The most recent example is Manny Pacquiao, who returned at 46-years-old for a world title fight against Mario Barrios.
Now, Adrien Broner, otherwise known as ‘The Problem’, appears to be on the verge of making a comeback to boxing after being out of the ring for over a year.
The 36-year-old four-weight world champion from Cincinnati, Ohio has not fought since he was outpointed over ten rounds by countryman Blair Cobbs in Florida last June. Prior to that, Broner beat Bill Hutchison in 2023 following two years out. His last significant contest came against Pacquiao in 2019 for the WBA Regular Welterweight belt.
At one stage of his storied career, Broner was widely considered to be one of the biggest stars in the sport, winning world championships from super-featherweight up to welterweight since his debut 17-years-ago.
After experiencing a number of personal issues outside of the ring, Broner has now suffered five defeats as a professional, falling short against the likes of Mikey Garcia, Shawn Porter, Marcos Maidana and Pacquiao.
Despite this, the 36-year-old appears to now be on the comeback trail and could make his return to the ring either before the end of 2025 or during the early stages of next year.
Speaking via social media, the four division champion claimed that he is going to ‘give his life’ to boxing for half a decade before calling it a day.
“Man, I’m about to give my life to boxing for the next 3-5 years! If you with me, I love you… if you not, f–k you!”
Whilst an official announcement on Broner’s comeback is yet to be made, the 36-year-old could throw himself back into the mix before the year is out, as he sets his sights on making up for lost time after a frustrating couple of years.
