A McDonald’s restaurant in Liverpool has closed its doors temporarily. The restaurant on Liverpool Shopping Park, Edge Lane, is currently closed for a refurbishment and is expected to reopen later in the year.

A McDonald’s spokesperson told the ECHO: “Our Edge Lane restaurant is currently undergoing a refurbishment as part of our Convenience of the Future programme. The revamp will improve the experience of both our customers and our restaurant team, and we look forward to welcoming our customers back in early October.”

The nearest stores to the Edge Lane site are Kensington, Queens Drive and Ranelagh Street.

On its website, McDonald’s says: “Convenience of the Future programme is an exciting, large-scale programme that will see us reimagine our entire restaurant estate and make our customers’ McDonald’s experience quicker, easier and more convenient than ever before.

“It will also ensure we create an even better environment for our hardworking crew, both when they’re on and off shift.”

The Liverpool Lord Street restaurant was closed in January for a renovation. The store reopened in March with a new restaurant layout and the latest technology, creating a more seamless experience for customers.

Some of the key changes included a front counter redesign which will create specific areas for different sales channels, meaning more space for customers to enjoy their meal, less congestion around touchscreens, and shorter queues.

A dedicated courier entrance was installed which allows crew to better accommodate courier needs, alongside reducing congestion in the dining area to create a more relaxing restaurant environment for customers.

The kitchen’s redesign includes a bigger order assembly area and dedicated areas to prepare dine-in orders to help crew serve more quickly, efficiently, and accurately.

The redesign of McDonald’s kitchen and dining areas also improves digital sales channels, the McDonald’s App and makes smarter use of internal space to enhance the dine in experience.

McDonald’s has not confirmed what changes will be made to the Edge Lane site.
