Juventus now have a plan in mind to execute if they pursue a summer transfer swoop for Manuel Ugarte from Manchester United, according to reports in Italy.

Manuel Ugarte has recently been linked with Juventus and the Old Lady have been long-term admirers of the 24-year-old Uruguayan defensive midfielder.

The Uruguay international has been left fighting for Manchester United first-team minutes at the Premier League club in the 2025-26 campaign at Old Trafford.

Ugarte, who has been away on international duty with Uruguay, has been unable to consistently start for the Red Devils under Ruben Amorim or Michael Carrick.

Manuel Ugarte has only managed one Premier League start in six matches under interim boss Michael Carrick since Ruben Amorim was axed from Manchester United.

According to Tuttosport, Juventus would pursue a loan with an option to buy for Ugarte in the summer and the deal would ‘hinge’ on Man Utd agreeing to the terms.

However, the Old Lady would not be willing to pay the forgotten United midfielder’s entire wages during the whole of the 2026-27 campaign if a loan deal were agreed.

United are believed to be valuing Juventus-linked Ugarte between £25m and £29m amid interest from Premier League sides Newcastle United and Aston Villa.

Manuel Ugarte is represented by Jorge Mendes and the Portuguese super-agent is all too familiar with Juventus GM Damien Comolli, according to Tuttosport.

The Italian newspaper claims that there is an ‘excellent relationship’ between Jorge Mendes and Damien Comolli amid Juventus’ interest in Ugarte at the moment.

However, Juventus’ reported interest in the ex-Paris Saint-Germain and Sporting CP midfielder is not as strong as it once was amid uncertainty around Ugarte’s future.

It has been claimed that Ugarte is no longer deemed a ‘priority today’ for Juventus, despite the Old Lady’s desire to potentially make a move for him.
