Police have now confirmed the deceased to be 35-year-old Polish national Marek Krygier, who died on Saturday, March 28 at Royal Preston Hospital following an altercation outside the shop the previous evening.

Officers have made attempts to locate Mr Krygier’s next of kin but have been unable to do so.

Connor Doyle, 43, of Cheltenham Road, Blackburn, has now been charged with manslaughter. He has been remanded in custody to appear at Lancashire Magistrates’ Court tomorrow morning (Saturday, April 4).

A 44-year-old man previously arrested as part of the investigation has been released on conditional bail pending further enquiries.

Police said Mr Krygier was involved in an altercation outside the Home Bargains store in Byrom Street at around 6.45pm on Friday, March 27.

He later collapsed and was taken to hospital, where he died the next day.

A Home Office post-mortem examination showed the cause of death was a head injury.

Police said their enquiries into the incident are still ongoing and are urging anyone with information or footage, or anyone who witnessed an incident outside the store, to get in touch.
