An 18-year-old man was arrested and a member of the public had to intervene after a reported assault on a teenage girl in West Belfast.

Police are appealing for information following the incident on Monday, March 30.

It was reported shortly after 8:30pm that a teenage girl had been assaulted at the junction of Bernagh Drive and Glen Road by a male.

A member of the public intervened and an 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

He has subsequently been released on bail pending further police enquiries.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “Officers are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen the incident and are particularly keen to speak to the member of the public who intervened. You can get in contact on 101, quoting reference number 2040 of 31/03/26.”
