A street was cordoned off by police after three people were injured in a violent disturbance which is thought to have involved weapons in Oldham.

Officers from Greater Manchester Police taped off an area on Copster Hill Road after the incident erupted shortly before 3pm on Tuesday (April 7). There were reports of a disturbance involving a group of individuals which became violent.

Three men, aged 19, 23 and 24, were taken to hospital from the scene. Their injuries are not deemed to be life-threatening. Detectives are investigating the potential use of weapons amid the brawl.

Pictures from the scene showed police and paramedics in attendance on Tuesday afternoon with tape stretching over the pavement. Blood was also seen splattered on the ground. Anyone with information or CCTV footage is being urged to contact Greater Manchester Police.

Detective Inspector Kelly Paterson from GMP’s Oldham CID said: “We appreciate the concern an incident of this nature would cause the local community and we’re like to reassure them there is believed to be no wider threat.

“There is a scene in place as our forensic investigators establish the full circumstances of the incident however, we are working at pace to identify those involved.
