Fans think they know what’s going on with Coronation Street teen Sam Blakeman.

He’s sparked concern after some worrying behaviour, while he’s claimed he’s being targeted by fellow teen Will Driscoll. Sam had found out about Will’s inappropriate relationship with his athletics coach Megan Walsh.

Sam exposed child groomer Megan to his stepmother Leanne Battersby and Will’s stepmother Eva Price. Megan had been tormenting and threatening Sam for weeks over what he knew, sending his mental health spiralling, and he began misusing ADHD medication amid his exam stress.

Once the truth came out Will turned on Sam, while this week he decided to apologise – all while still denying any romance with Megan. Sam has become troubled in the fallout.

Not only is he researching grooming cases, but he’s grown paranoid. He threw his phone away after believing someone was tracking his device, and this week he’s shared Will has been after him.

We saw Sam fearful when he saw Will at the precinct and he fled. Prior to that, he said Will had threatened him over the phone, something Will denied.

Now, as fans slammed Will for being horrible to Sam, some have wondered if there is more to the scenes. They believe it’s actually Sam imagining things, and maybe it is paving the way for a mental health storyline for the teen.

A fan said: “Thought it might have been Sam imagining it due to how off sounding it was.” Another agreed: “What’s the matter with Sam is he suffering from paranoia and hallucinations? Or is Will genuinely being nasty to him?”

A third fan commented: “Sam is hallucinating,” as a fourth added: “I think Sam could be experiencing psychosis.” Another theory read: “Will didn’t actually call Sam did he? I thought they made it clear Sam was hallucinating that.”

A more in-depth suggestion read: “My thinking is Sam’s experiencing bad side effects from that medication he was taking. It would explain his paranoia, panic attacks, seeing & hearing Will when he isn’t.”

The theories kept on coming as a viewer said: “I don’t think Will did ring Sam I think it’s all in his head,” and another wrote: “I think the writers are going to make Sam a schizophrenic. It can be triggered by stress, or trauma.”

This was echoed by another viewer who said: “I’m wondering if Sam is getting a schizophrenia storyline. First paranoia, now an auditory hallucination.” A final theory read: “I think it might be the start of a psychotic episode, considering his paranoia , it makes sense to move to hearing voices.”
