Ever since Liam Rosenior confirmed Enzo Fernandez would be banned for two Chelsea matches, many have questioned why Marc Cucurella was not also banned.
To some, Cucurella was actually more specific when opening himself up to Barcelona. Fernandez merely flirted with Madrid, telling fans he’d like to live in Madrid and that he loves Toni Kroos and Luka Modric.
Cucurella directly said he’d consider a move to Barcelona. But many forget that the left-back also made clear he remains a Chelsea player, and that it was an isolated incident over the international break.

Unlike Cucurella, Fernandez had already opened the door regarding his future after the defeat to PSG at Stamford Bridge and in many interviews, teased the idea of Madrid. Cucurella’s reaction was different.
What Marc Cucurella and Enzo Fernandez did differently
Having returned from Spain and Argentine duty, Chelsea wanted to hear why Fernandez and Cucurella had made the comments they had made. Fernandez seemed to stick by his words and wants a move.

But BBC Sport say that Cucurella was apologetic on his return, insisting he should have spoken privately before airing his opinion on Chelsea’s transfer policy, the sacking of Enzo Maresca, and Barca’s interest.
It is also claimed that Cucurella was excited by the club’s transfer plans this summer, with Chelsea keen to prove Cucurella wrong about their work in the transfer window and what is to come in the summer.
Which other players could leave Chelsea in the summer?
Chelsea have supposedly told potential suitors that Moises Caicedo will cost the same as football’s biggest-ever transfer: Neymar’s £200m move to PSG. That makes it unlikely Caicedo will be leaving.
Julien Laurens does not believe the clubs looking at Cole Palmer can afford his transfer fee, but Fernandez is certainly one who could leave this summer. Madrid have been joined by PSG and Atleti in the race.
Who would you sign to replace Marc Cucurella?
He hasn’t ruled out a Chelsea exit…
Chelsea do not want to sell Josh Acheampong, while Alejandro Garnacho is supposedly a target for Kendry Paez’s loan side River Plate. Plenty going on, as is the way with Chelsea, ahead of the summer.
But what is clear, is that following on from their comments, it is clear that Cucurella has some regret regarding what he did, while Fernandez is hellbent on making a move to Verdebabas happen.
