Thierry Henry has given a ruthless verdict on Mohamed Salah’s drop-off this season, with the Liverpool star named on the bench in their Champions League quarter-final clash with PSG.

Thierry Henry has told Mohamed Salah that “no one is eternal” as he discussed the Egyptian winger’s drop in form — after Arne Slot left him on the bench to start the Paris Saint-Germain matchup.
The 33-year-old has struggled to regain his top level throughout the campaign, which has led to drama over his future at Anfield at different points in the season.
Liverpool has since announced that Salah will leave the club in the summer on a free transfer, ending his long-running association with the Reds, with many memorable moments.
For Henry, it’s a moment that was ultimately inevitable. “It’s quite simple, Mo Salah, his numbers have dropped,” he said on CBS Sports ahead of Liverpool’s clash with PSG in the Champions League quarter-finals.

“So last year when Liverpool were struggling, I’ve seen Liverpool struggle last year in a lot of games and things were not happening, this guy used to bail them out.
“But it happens to everyone; numbers are going to drop at one point, no one is eternal apart from when you stop and people will give you your flowers.
“They should give Mo Salah his flowers because he was an outstanding player for Liverpool and still there, but look at the numbers, 57 goal involvements last year and this year only 19.
“And basically at a particular moment a guy like that, when he doesn’t bail you out anymore, if Mo Salah struggles, for me, Liverpool does struggle.”

It marks a difficult end to a sparkling career at Anfield for Salah, who has provided plenty of important and memorable moments at an important time for the club.
“Hopefully he can make his legacy even more special in the upcoming weeks and months where we still play for something special,” Arne Slot told the club media after the news broke. “But he will always leave this club as a legend because, as I said, the way this club has performed in the last seasons is also for a large part due to what he’s done for it.
“Scoring goals, having his assists. As I said, as a fan I watched him and that front three with Sadio Mane and Bobby Firmino… everybody is still talking about that, and rightly so.
“And then when I started working with him, I don’t know if it was his best season in terms of numbers, but it was an impressive season because he had the most goals and the most assists and I don’t know if that has happened much with him, let alone with any player in the Premier League.

“He will definitely leave as a legend of this club.”
Salah’s future after Liverpool remains uncertain, but recent links have emerged over possible moves to the MLS or the Saudi Pro League in the summer. The difficult question for the head coach and the hierarchy to find an answer to is exactly who will replace the star power that the Egyptian international has provided for the Reds for such a long time.
There will be some hope that Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak can help fill that void, having both made their way to Merseyside for a large transfer fee and plenty of attacking flair in their locker.
While neither has hit that height yet, be it for adaptation reasons or injury issues, they are certainly capable of bringing some quality that will be sorely missed once Salah makes his exit in the coming months.
