Paul White, also known as Captain Power Wash, is a wheelie bin and patio cleaner from Chapelford.

He was finishing up work on a Friday afternoon when he received an ‘unexpected’ call from a producer at BBC’s The One Show, asking him to feature in their programme.

Paul was initially sceptical, but after some encouragement from his wife he thought “why not.”

The episode aired on BBC One on Monday March 30, at 7pm.

During filming, Paul met The Traitors UK star, Minah Shannon, who appeared in Series 3 of the BBC programme.

Paul and Shannon discussed the new food waste collection service, which started in Warrington on Tuesday March 31.

The new system was introduced by the government, to reduce environmental impact and increase overall recycling rates.

Cllr John Kerr Brown, Warrington Borough Council’s cabinet member responsible for waste and recycling, says: “Recycling our food waste brings a range of benefits—reducing landfill, producing renewable energy and fertiliser, and minimising greenhouse gas emissions.

“All of this contributes to a cleaner, more sustainable Warrington.”

Paul described himself as an ‘advocate’ for the new food caddies, which he encourages his customers to use.

He explained that, at first, many of his customers saw the food bins as a ‘waste of time’ but after they started to use them, they noticed how much food they were throwing away and started to cut down on their portion sizes and save money on their food shops.

The caddies are collected every week on the same day as your black bin, and they can be used for the disposal of all food scraps, fruit and vegetable peelings, meat and fish bones, tea bags, and coffee grounds.
