Taking refuge with his smalltown family proves no less stressful, largely because an unextinguished old flame (Linney) is now not only the town mayor, but also his brother’s wife.

Reigning champions England will not be expecting Ireland to stand too much in the way of a first victory in tonight’s opening match at Twickenham. Wales and Scotland are more evenly matched, though Scotland are well fancied for an away win.

To Aintree for the biggest event of the racing calendar, the final day of the Grand National, which doesn’t get underway until 4pm, but ITV starts early with ITV Racing: The Opening Show at 9.30am, and also covers the day’s other races in ITV Racing: Grand National Festival from 12.45pm.

Death of a Prince: The Tragedy of William of Gloucester

The death of the late Queen’s cousin, aged 30 and ninth in line to the throne, filled the headlines in 1972 but is now largely forgotten. Archive and talking heads recapture how the plane the prince was piloting hit a tree and burst into flames at an airshow near Wolverhampton.

Sky’s English version of the classic US sketch show has been getting a surprisingly warm reception. Even Jamie Dornan avoided a roasting when he hosted. Tonight, it’s the turn of comedian and actor Jack Whitehall, with music from singer-songwriter Jorja Smith. GO
