A wild bear has strayed onto the grounds of a person’s home in northeastern Japan. Nobody was hurt, but the beast apparently did help itself to several apples.

Police say they received a report early on Friday from a man in his 70s who lives at the property in Morioka City, Iwate Prefecture. He said he noticed the bear outside after his dog started barking.

Footage taken from the second floor shows the bear coming out of a storage room adjacent to the main house. The animal slowly heads towards the garage.

City officials waited until morning to inspect the area after deeming any action too risky at night. They worked with police and local hunters to confirm that the bear had gone.

They later set up traps and took other measures, in case the bear returns.
