The club’s head of recruitment is expected to leave his post after just over a year and a new director of football could be appointed

Adam Worth is to leave his position as head of recruitment at Swansea City.

Worth has been a leading figure in the club’s recruitment strategy over the last couple of years, but is now departing to take on “a new opportunity”.

One source has also suggested the club will appoint a new director of football, in what could be a significant shake-up of the their recruitment department.

After WalesOnline revealed the news of Worth’s departure on Monday evening, he issued a statement saying: “I leave the club with immense pride in the foundations we’ve built together and the value we’ve added to the squad. I have no doubt this has set us up for future success.

“The club is in great hands – with talented staff, an ambitious ownership group, and a squad that feels in a far healthier place heading into a summer window than it has in some time.

“I will always value the incredible relationships I’ve built at the club and wish everyone at Swansea City all the success in the world. I hope that one day our paths cross again so we can finish what we started together.”

Worth first joined the club back in October 2024 as the club’s global head of analytics before later being promoted to the role of head of recruitment in the February.

He was initially tasked with working alongside director of football Richard Montague, and has been credited by several insiders as taking a key role in the club’s recruitment drive last summer.

Confirming the decision, the club said at the time: “Adam brings a wealth of experience in harnessing sports data across the globe to give us an edge, and we have already seen this come to fruition with the exciting signing of Melker Widell.

“Adam is a lifelong Swansea City supporter and comes to the club via BetMGM, where he was Senior Sports Trader managing the live odds division. We believe that we are building a great team that can help us achieve the success on the pitch that we all crave.”

Swansea signed 12 senior players last summer, with Montague later departing less than a month after the close of the window, along with several members of his scouting team.

Worth had since been tasked as taking the lead role in transfer negotiations, working alongside CEO Tom Gorringe, but has now left his post ahead of the summer window.

The circumstances of his exit aren’t yet known, nor is it clear exactly whether he’ll be replaced or how Swansea’s recruitment team will now look in his absence.

Much of Worth’s work is believed to have centred around data analytics, with the lifelong Swans fan initially honing his skills in the world of betting.

He started out as a sports trader in the betting industry in London, before moving to Australia in 2016 to head up the live odds division for Ladbrokes Australia, a post he’d hold for six years.

Then came a move to Las Vegas, where he linked up with BetMGM.

He was, it’s understood, always keen on making the move into football, and his expertise was clearly highly valued by those at the top of the club.

Indeed, it’s understood he enjoyed a close a close relationship with Swansea’s majority owner Brett Cravatt.

However, it appears he will now be moving on.

Both Swansea and Adam Worth have been approached for comment.
