The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum will follow Aragorn’s early journey to find Gollum to keep the Ring’s location from Sauron.
The Hunt for Gollum takes place during the The Lord of the Rings trilogy.
English actor Leo Woodall is a newcomer to the franchise and will play Halvard.
The 29-year-old gained recognition for his roles in HBO series The White Lotus, Netflix’s romantic drama One Day and Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy.
Jamie Dornan is also a new addition to the cast and plays Strider, who is known to fans as Aragorn.
Dornan will step into the shoes of Viggo Mortensen, who played the character in the original Lord of the Rings trilogy.
Bafta and Golden Globes nominee Dornan first gained recognition for his role in the Fifty Shades of Grey film series as Christian Grey in 2015.
Award-winning actress Kate Winslet is new to the cast and will play Marigol, while fans will welcome the return of notable Lord of the Rings actors who are set to reprise their roles in Middle-earth.
They include Sir Ian McKellen, Elijah Wood and Andy Serkis, who will reprise their roles as Gandalf, Frodo Baggins and Gollum/Sméagol respectively.
The Hobbit’s Lee Pace will be returning as the Elvenking Thranduil.
The film is directed by Andy Serkis.
The Lord of the Rings franchise was hugely popular and took about £2.5bn ($3bn) at the box office.
It had maintained a global cult fan base decades before the films were released.
Both the Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings movies saw global appreciation for the fantasy world created by J.R.R. Tolkien skyrocket.
The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum will be released in cinemas on 17 December 2027.
