A penguin that is believed to be the oldest of its kind in the world has turned 38 years old.
Paradise Park Wildlife Sanctuary said the Humboldt penguin, named Spneb, celebrated her birthday on Thursday.
The sanctuary said according to global zoo records, Spneb was now the “oldest Humboldt’s penguin on the planet” and that she was “sliding into her 38th birthday… with more sparkle and sardines than ever”.
It marked the day with a crafted “ice cake masterpiece loaded with her favourite treats” including Cornish sardines and sprats.
