I’m a Celebrity… South Africa star Seann Walsh has commented on his exit from the show, which was the result of a devilish twist introduced by hosts Ant and Dec during Thursday’s (16 April) episode of the ITV reality series.

The comedian became the first campmate to be eliminated from the spin-off as he was sent packing by Harry Redknapp, who, as one of the Kings, was ordered by the presenters to evict one of his servants.

With the spin-off series being pre-recorded in September, there are no live interviews in the studio with the eliminated campmate before they walk across the iconic bridge. However, Walsh has commented on his early departure in a video on Instagram.

“See you later alligators 🐊 ❤️. Thanks, everyone,” he wrote in the caption, with the star also posting a clip. “Well, that’s the end of my time on the show. Or the end of my journey, as they might say,” Walsh said.

“I just want to say a huge thank you for the love that I’ve received over the past week on Instagram, but also out on the streets as well. It’s been overwhelming and very touching. You’ve made this guy very happy. I had an amazing time on the show.

“And just a thank you to all the campmates as well for being so welcoming. I had such a laugh, especially in the early days in the Savannah Scrubs. And hey, I made it. I’m in a Gemma Collins meme, and in this household that means I’ve made it.”

He continued: “Going on a show like I’m a Celeb, millions of people watch it, and what’s fantastic is you get to show who you really are. And it turns out I’m Stuart – I had no idea.” Walsh was referencing the moment in which Redknapp mistakenly called him Stuart.

Collins also alluded to the blunder in the comment section, with the former TOWIE star writing: “Love you STUART.” Co-stars Ashley Roberts and Beverley Callard also wrote messages, with the latter saying she was “gutted” at not being able to say goodbye.

Walsh, who had finished in fifth place in the 22nd season of the main series in 2022, said in a post-exit Q+A that the conditions at Savannah Scrub were akin to a “hellhole”, while also adding that the trials were “harder and scarier” this time around.

“The pleasure for me was the extraordinary people you get to live with. Most people don’t get to do that with their lives; it’s an extraordinary thing,” he added. “For it to come around a second time is unbelievable. I’ll cherish both my times in the jungle.”

Speaking to Ant and Dec upon his departure in last night’s episode, Walsh said he was feeling “a combination of emotions”. He went on: “I was thrilled to be able to see my family because I missed my kids a lot. At the same time, I’m sad they won’t see me in the jungle for longer or doing more trials.”

I’m a Celebrity… South Africa airs on ITV1 and ITVX.
