A majority of trains are now running as normal at Piccadilly station, although some services are still being delayed or cancelled.

It follows the overhead lines becoming damaged at 11.20am yesterday.

The railway was closed overnight for repairs, which were more complex than originally anticipated, according to Network Rail.

It’s understood the repairs were complex due to being electrical, with the damaged wires linked to other parts of the infrastructure.

Further repairs are due to take place in the coming days, which are likely to be overnight works, it is understood.

Passengers are being advised to check the latest situation for their journeys before travelling.
