Dozens of biscuit, cake and pastry products have been recalled due to “potential rodent contamination”. Saffron Pastries is recalling 25 products that “may have been contaminated by rodents, making them unsafe to eat”. Rodents such as mice and rats can carry bacteria, viruses and parasites that are spread via urine, droppings and saliva.
A notice issued by the Food Standards Agency on behalf of the manufacturer said: “We are recalling saffron pastries products due to physical contamination from pest activity. This poses a safety risk to customers.” The FSA added: “If you have bought the above products, do not eat them. Instead, return them to where you bought them from for a full refund.”
