A key answer from LIV Golf chief executive Scott O’Neil that all but conceded Saudi funding would end after this season has been deleted from TNT Sports’ social media account.

The same interview, conducted at LIV Mexico, was then reposted by TNT, but it omitted the quotes that had gained traction.

TNT, the host channel of football’s Champions League, which is in its first year of a partnership with LIV, declined to comment on Friday night. Despite the issue arising on its own social media account, it redirected Telegraph Sport to LIV.

O’Neil was interviewed by Englishman Oliver Wilson, the former Ryder Cup player who is working as an analyst for TNT, the UK broadcaster that screens live coverage from the circuit.

“Sergio [García] yesterday alluded to the fact that funding was in place until 2030,” Wilson said. “Can you speak to that and give any indication?”

O’Neil replied: “Yeah, of course, that is not the way the world works and we have commitments to this being a going concern. The reality is you’re funded through the season and then you work like crazy to create a business and a business plan to keep us going. But that’s not different than any other private equity business in the history of mankind.”

These comments quickly gained traction on X, but the entire video was soon deleted. More than three hours later, it was reposted, but in an edited form.
