Speed Competitions was announced as the rugby league club’s new main sponsor in March, which came in the wake of details being shared about the monetary strains Raiders were going through.
The club has since reassured fans that it has got through the period ‘relatively unscathed’, with the Millom-based business pinpointed as one of the main reasons for the uptick in fortunes.
Jack Townsend, director of Speed Competitions, said: “Becoming the main club sponsor of the Barrow Raiders is something that means a great deal to me personally, and to us as a local business.
“As someone who cares deeply about the community, it’s incredibly important to support organisations that bring people together and represent the pride and passion of our town.”
The team at Speed Competitions were one of the first to celebrate the news that Raiders were now in a stronger financial position, stating that such success stories are their ‘main and first priority’.
“From a business perspective, we’ve always believed in backing local initiatives and giving back where we can,” Jack explained.
“The Raiders are at the heart of the community, with a loyal fanbase and a strong identity, and we’re proud to play a part in supporting the club’s continued growth and success.
“We’re excited for what’s ahead, and look forward to building a strong partnership, both on and off the field.”
Speed Competitions was first launched in 2022 and, over the ensuing years, has paid out over £25million in prizes.
Providing the positive update earlier this month, a spokesperson from Barrow Raiders said: “We feared that we would have fallen behind with payments of invoices but thankfully the club has remained on top of their bills.
“It is fair to say that the arrival of Speed Competitions as our new main sponsors has played a massive part in that, and we can’t thank them enough for their contribution.
“We have been performing particularly strongly commercially, and we would like to extend our thanks to everyone who supports the club, however large or small.”
