“Two fire engines were sent, while Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service and the police were also in attendance,” a spokesperson for SFRS said.

They said firefighters left the scene at around 07:45, adding: “There were no casualties.”

National Highways said diversion routes were in place and drivers should allow extra time for their journey if planning to use the stretch of road.

“Plan ahead, you may wish to re-route or even delay your journey,” it said.

Surrey Police has been approached for comment.
