A woman and two boys are in a critical condition in hospital following a serious incident near Bargoed, Rhymney Valley. Emergency services, including two Wales Air Ambulance helicopters, were called to reports regarding the concern for safety for three people in Gilfach on Sunday morning.
The three people were seen in a car close to Margaret Street shortly before 11am, a spokesman for Gwent Police said. Officers attended along with personnel from the Welsh Ambulance Service, Welsh Air Ambulance and South Wales Fire and Rescue Service.
A 36-year-old woman and two boys, aged nine and 16, were taken to hospital for treatment.
All three are in a critical condition, Gwent Police said.

A statement from the force read: “We received a call regarding the concern for safety for three people who were seen in a car close to Margaret Street, Gilfach, at around 10.45am on Sunday, April 19.
“Officers attended along with personnel from the Welsh Ambulance Service, Welsh Air Ambulance and South Wales Fire and Rescue Service.
“A 36-year-old woman and two boys, aged nine and 16, were taken to hospital for treatment and all three remain in a critical condition.
“Enquiries are ongoing at this time.”
A spokeswoman for the Wales Air Ambulance service said: “I can confirm the Wales Air Ambulance helicopters attended an incident in that region on Sunday.
“Our Dafen and Cardiff-based crews were allocated at 11am and the first crew arrived at the scene at 11.20am. Our involvement concluded at 2.03pm.”
