A new report places doubt on Brock Lesnar’s retirement at WWE WrestleMania 42.
WWE legend Brock Lesnar appeared to retire when he left his gloves and boots in the ring after his loss to Oba Femi at WrestleMania 42. While fans continue to speculate about the moment, a new report from Wrestlevotes Radio (via Fightful Select) has put it in doubt.
The report notes that there’s a strong belief that Brock Lesnar was genuinely retired after what transpired at WWE WrestleMania 42 Night 2. However, some believe the Beast will return for one more match at SummerSlam 2026 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, because of his roots in the city.
At least one contact in WWE hoped that Brock Lesnar would be on the SummerSlam card, but they didn’t say it was confirmed.
Earlier reports had indicated that Brock Lesnar’s retirement could take place at WWE SummerSlam 2026. Fans speculated Gunther could be the one to end his career, and the promotion also seemed to plant the seeds when the Ring General told Paul Heyman he owed him more than a “thank you” for facing Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 42.
WWE star admits Brock Lesnar’s retirement tease nearly made her cry
Speaking to Adrian Hernandez of Unlikely during Netflix’s post-WrestleMania press event, former WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton revealed that she almost shed a tear when Brock Lesnar teased retirement. She also hopes Lesnar will return for one final match at SummerSlam 2026.
“I don’t know. When I saw Brock unlace his boots, I almost shed a tear. I was sad for him,” Stratton said. “He looked like he started crying a little bit too… he’s just a boy. It’s his first time living, too.
“So hopefully it’s not his last match. Hopefully, at SummerSlam in Minnesota, we’ll get to see him again. I think that would be iconic — retiring in your hometown,” Stratton said about Brock Lesnar.
