Radiohead‘s Ed O’Brien has two new updates for fans. The guitarist has released a new single, ‘Incantations’, and has announced a run of ‘In Conversation’ events across the UK.
O’Brien previously announced the release of his solo album, Blue Morpho, on May 22nd via Transgressive. So far, the titular track and his new offering provide two windows into the hypnotic solo side-step.
The Radiohead member has also anticipated that lovers of his work might have some questions; ever the gentleman, he’s opened the floor up for three nights.
On May 23rd, O’Brien will appear in conversation at Leeds’ Crash Records; on May 24th, he will then appear at Cardiff’s Jacaranda Records, and on May 26th, in partnership with Rough Trade, he will appear at London’s EartH Theatre. Tickets for these events will go on sale on April 24th.
This isn’t the only time O’Brien will swap music for musings; he will appear alongside Nadine Shah at Brighton’s The Great Escape festival, speaking on mental health in partnership with CALM.
For those who want to see the album recreated on stage, fear not: O’Brien recently announced his first-ever solo live tour in the UK and Europe, billed as ‘An Evening With… Blue Morpho’.
The live experience of the forthcoming album will bring together a collective of musicians who collaborated on the album’s recording sessions, such as musical director Dave Okumu and ESKA.
Elsewhere, O’Brien confirmed that Radiohead would be returning to the road in 2027. He shared, “What we’re going to do is, every year we’re going to do a different continent, and we’re going to do 20 shows each year. No more, no less.”
O’Brien is working across mediums: The short film Blue Morpho: The Three Act Play, which premiered at SXSW in Texas on March 16th, is set to accompany the release.
