The club said work was already under way to help prepare for the latest move, which included the installation of a new seated stand along the side of the pitch and refurbished dressing rooms.

The stadium in north Derbyshire has a capacity of more than 2,000 and is accessible by car and public transport.

In its statement, the Eagles said: “We hope this move marks an exciting new chapter, offering improved facilities for players, staff and supporters alike, while strengthening the club’s long-term ambitions.

“Beyond the financial benefits, the move also represents a strategic step in further strengthening our partnership with Sheffield Football Club, enabling more shared opportunities for events, fan engagement and long-term development.”

Both clubs remained committed to securing a new facility within the city of Sheffield itself, the statement added.
