Danny Rohl’s immediate Rangers priority is the here and now – and trying to secure a title win.

But the Rangers gaffer admits he’s already looking to the future as well.

During their break in Spain last week, Rohl held positive discussions with the club’s hierarchy and executive team on their plans for NEXT term.

He wants to keep his best players but in-form centre-back Emmanuel Fernandez is already being linked with moves away from Ibrox.

And lost in all the title talk is the fact that Gers have managed to tie up two of the hottest prospects in the Scottish game in Ashton Scally and Kyle Glasgow – with Rohl adamant there will be a pathway for them into his first-team.

There’s also the small matter of replacing skipper James Tavernier who announced this week he’ll be leaving the club in the summer

Rohl said: “I’m looking at a lot of videos at the moment, not just games but also players.

“We had a daily meeting with the board (in Spain). With Jim Gillespie, Dan Purdy and Fraser Thornton we have a good group and it’s clear what we want.

“It’s good to start preparing a lot of things now because you never know what can happen. It helps to have clear direction.

“In terms of Manny, he knows what he has here. He’s developed very quickly. We should not forget that one year ago he was playing in League One.

“Now he plays for a big club. And if everything goes well and we get what we want, maybe can play next year in the highest competition (Champions League).

“Also, big compliments to the club because we worked really hard to keep Ashton here.

“He had a lot of interest from big clubs. For me, it was important to see him when I arrived in October.

“He played a friendly game with us and I saw his potential.

“We want to bring academy players into the first team. This is also part of my job.

“We want to develop them and give them opportunities here.”
