For the second day in a row, the riders tackled a stage of more than 200 kilometres. Four riders formed the day’s breakaway and gained a maximum six-minute lead. Led by Team Visma | Lease a Bike, the leading group was caught with 10 kilometres to go.

This led to a new wave of attacks, but with 2 kilometres to go, everything came back together. Brennan found himself in the depleted peloton, but had to fight his way to the front to sprint for the win. Thanks to an impressive sprint, he secured his team’s 25th victory of the season. Thanks to Cian Uijtdebroeks, who took the stage and overall victory in the Tour de l’Ain, the team now has 27 victories.

“The team did a great job”, Brennan continued. “They kept me out of the wind all day. Especially on the way to the climbs, they took the stress off me so I could concentrate on the sprint.”
