Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo has sent his best wishes to teammate Dan Gore after the central player joined Rotherham on a season-long loan deal.
The 20-year-old joined the League One club last season on loan but his time at the New York Stadium was cut short due to injury. On Thursday afternoon, the Millers confirmed the United man would be back in South Yorkshire for the forthcoming season having agreed a loan spell at the club.
Reflecting on the news, a delighted Gore shared images of his unveiling at Rotherham on Instagram with the caption: “Buzzin’ to be back here on a season-long loan! Rotherham United, can’t wait to get started.”
Among those to send his best wishes to Gore in the comments was Mainoo who made 32 appearances alongside the midfielder for the U18s and U21s before progressing to the first team. “Let’s go,” the midfielder simply wrote as he sent his support to Gore.

For Mainoo, this could be merely the first of several exits from United that are on the horizon. Notably, his good friend and former academy teammate Alejandro Garnacho has requested to leave the club this summer.
Garnacho and Ruben Amorim’s relationship broke down significantly following the Europa League final, when he was highly critical of United’s season and the decision to not start him against Tottenham in Bilbao. After this incident, Amorim informed the player that he could seek a move to another club which the winger agreed with.
As for Mainoo, he has yet to find a settled place in this United team to date under Amorim. The Reds are hopeful of completing a deal for Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo this summer, which could cast further doubt on to his role in the team.
