Local wildlife enthusiasts are being invited to an evening of nature, photography and storytelling at Berrow Village Hall on Tuesday (April 28th) when keen amateur photographer and conservation volunteer Joy Russell will give her first public talk.

Joy’s talk, titled ‘Joy by Nature’, will showcase a series of her wildlife photographs and short films, celebrating the natural beauty found in and around the Burnham and Berrow area. She says she hopes to inspire others to “take the time to stare, to enjoy, learn and care about our surroundings and all that live in it.”

The presentation will feature a wide range of close‑up encounters and memorable moments, from a winking frog and the song of a blackbird, to the rainbow colours in a goldfinch’s wings and even a bumblebee’s tongue. Joy says the evening will include “lots of interesting facts and personal recollections,” offering a gentle mix of education, wonder and local wildlife appreciation.

Admitting she is “a tad nervous” ahead of her first talk, Joy says she is also “so looking forward to sharing my thoughts and images with everyone,” adding that she hopes people will leave the evening “feeling relaxed, happy and inspired.”

The Berrow Conservation Group says it is delighted to welcome Joy as a speaker and encourages residents and visitors with an interest in nature to come along and enjoy the evening.

The event, hosted by the Berrow Conservation Group, begins at 7.30pm, with refreshments served at the end. Entry costs £3 for BCG members and £5 for visitors, and all are welcome to attend.
