Asda Express in Prudhoe was taped off by police following an incident which left members of staff ‘shaken’

Police cordoned off a petrol station following an incident overnight. Officers were called to the Asda Express on Front Street, Prudhoe, with the area being taped off.
A police van and a car were both at the scene on Sunday morning when inquiries appeared to be taking place. Three police officers were spotted speaking with Asda employees on the forecourt.
There appeared to be no damage to the premises. A member of staff at Asda Express told ChronicleLive that members of staff were “left shaken” following the incident.

No one has been injured as a result of what happened, they added. The Asda Express was closed for some time before reopening to the public at around 9.30am, with the cordon being lifted.
The exact nature of the incident is currently unknown. ChronicleLive has contacted Northumbria Police and Asda for comment.
