The Inverclyde Central Bicycle Recycling and Refurbishment Team, based on Regent Street, said it will pause services due to limited capacity and staffing challenges.
A spokesperson said: “Our project has been key in keeping Inverclyde on their bikes for 10 years this year, and we have no intention of disappearing; but at this time we need to go on a short hiatus for our typical services.
“We will do everything we can to keep Inverclyde pedalling on.”
The team confirmed that reports of a complete closure were inaccurate and that it remains open for quick services and cycling advice.
In-depth repairs and bicycle donations cannot currently be accepted.
Thursdays are now appointment-only due to a lack of available staff.
ICDT said it will continue contributing to Inverclyde’s cycling scheme through education programmes and by providing its Electric Bike fleet for events.
One such event is Ardgowan Hospice’s upcoming Five Ferry Challenge.
The group will also maintain communication through its social media page and workshop contact number during standard operating hours.
