Somerset batter Tom Kohler-Cadmore faces a spell on the sidelines after suffering a fractured thumb.
Kohler-Cadmore, 31, sustained the injury when taking a slip catch during the first morning of the of the County Championship match against Essex.
“Initial assessments conducted at the time of injury demonstrated a significant reduction in his hand function,” the club said on their website. , external
“Further medical assessment and monitoring was carried out over the subsequent recovery period and unfortunately this has confirmed that Tom sustained a fracture to the thumb.
“Tom will now undertake a period of rehabilitation with the Somerset sport science and medical team.”
Somerset host Yorkshire in their next County Championship match, starting Friday, 1 May.
