The issue was first reported at around 5am, affecting properties in Cheddar and causing no water or low pressure for customers in nearby Wedmore.

In an initial statement, Bristol Water said it was aware of a burst water main in Cheddar and that customers in both locations were experiencing supply problems. The company initially said a leakage inspector was on the way and that teams were working to restore supplies as soon as possible.

By about 10am, Bristol Water confirmed crews had located the leak and were preparing to carry out repairs on the damaged main.

In a further update issued after 1pm, the firm said a rezone of the network had restored water to around 800 properties, with a second rezone expected to bring supplies back to a further 400 homes within a few hours.

A spokesperson for Bristol Water said the company apologised for any inconvenience caused and thanked residents for their patience while work continued to repair the main and stabilise supplies.

Customers who continue to experience issues with no water or low pressure are advised to check Bristol Water’s website or contact its customer services team for the latest information and support.
