Emergency services were responding to an incident on the train line between two major Manchester stations this afternoon that has left one person in hospital.
The line between Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Airport was blocked. One person has been taken to hospital after the incident at Burnage station, a British Transport Police spokesperson confirmed.
BTP said in a statement: “Officers were called at around 11am today (29 April) to reports of a casualty on the tracks at Burnage railway station. Officers responded with paramedics, and a person was taken to hospital. The incident is not being treated as suspicious.”

Trains were either being cancelled, delayed or revised. The major disruption on the line lasted until 2pm this afternoon.
National Rail said at the time: “The emergency services are currently dealing with an incident between Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Airport. So that they can safely carry out their work, all lines are closed.
“Trains between these stations will be cancelled, delayed by up to 60 minutes or revised. Major disruption is expected until 14:00.”
