Wednesday’s episode was told from Jodie’s point of view
Coronation Street aired scenes on Wednesday night which saw the mystery of Jodie Ramsey unravelled further. The newcomer, who is played by Olivia Frances Brown, arrived during the ITV soap’s crossover with Emmerdale earlier this year, having been tied up in the back of a van.
Shona Platt (Julia Goulding) immediately recognised her as her sister, even though she had never mentioned her during the decade she has lived on the backstreet. Since then, Jodie has moved into number eight and pretended to be full of good intentions, helping out around the house whilst Shona and her husband David spend time at the hospital with their daughter Harper, who was born prematurely.
But all is clearly not what it seems with Jodie, and the character has been shrouded in mystery for months. Viewers will remember that she spent ages stealing various items from those in the community and, when caught by niece Lilly, she made her promise not to tell anyone.

Two men, credited only as Bloke 1 and Bloke 2, came looking for Jodie on Coronation Street
As one of five potential victims in a special murder week, Wednesday’s instalment of the soap explored the same events of an episode that aired last week and, with the classic track Happy Together blasted into the scenes as incidental music, it became apparent that Jodie was planning to sneak away whilst everyone else was at Carla and Lisa’s wedding reception, only to be caught by Lilly.
Through tears, the teenager told her long-lost step aunt: ” You’re a liar. And you know what? You mean nothing to me. You’re not my family. You only care about yourself. Do us a favour. Get lost!”
Just then, two men arrived at number eight, where they spotted Shona outside, and she pretended not to know anything about Jodie. But when they attempted to take hold of her, Jodie shouted after them, and they left. Viewers will recognise the two men who arrived in scenes that aired last week.
Jodie tried to seduce David but he threw her out of the house
Still credited as Bloke 1 and Bloke 2, they had been putting pressure on a little girl called Olivia to get hold of a USB stick that was in Jodie’s possession. She handed it over to Bloke 1 and Bloke 2, and they threatened that they would be back if what they wanted was not on it.
Shona, who found herself pregnant as a teenager and now feels guilty for cutting ties with Jodie during that time, then persuaded her sister to stay, but still couldn’t get the truth out of her about what was on that hard drive.
Later on, Jodie pored through old photographs and realised that Shona had lied to her when she said she had never received a drawing she had done for her as a child, discovering that it had been tucked behind a photo frame all this time.
Shona was still at the hospital and Jodie decided to wait in bed for a drunken David to return from the wedding reception after reacting to a text message from her sister’s phone. Once he realised who he was kissing in the bed, a horrified David sobered up and she tried to spin the whole thing as David’s fault, and warned him that she would be telling Shona all about it.
It was then that Sarah Platt walked into the house, and listened in disbelief as David was telling Jodie to pack her bags. Continuing to throw the blame at David, Jodie said: “Tell her that you kissed me, and tell her that you said I smelt like a sexy sweet shop,! as Sarah laughed at her brother.
David ordered Jodie out of the house and it was obvious that she was being watched as she trudged along the cobbles. As she wandered through the precinct, Jodie noticed, and turned round to confront the person following her. She said: “Oh, come on. What do you want now?” as the episode ended.
Viewers are still yet to learn exactly who is after Jodie, who, along with , along with Carl Webster (Jonathan Howard), Theo Silverton (James Cartwright), Megan Walsh (Beth Nixon), or Maggie Driscoll (Pauline McLynn) could be killed off at the end of the week.
Coronation Street boss Kate Brooks said of the big week: “It was a very complicated storylining process! I did lose a bit of sleep and my hair went a little bit greyer. Usually in a murder week you’ve got one victim, then the suspects – we had five potential suspects had to make sure all the stories aligned, made sense and they were all getting to the right place and coming together.
In the build-up it’s gearing up and the momentum is really strong, it could be any of them. Stars aligned to get to this juicy week. The flipside is going forward, there’s so many consequences for each individual character.
Then we’ve also got the who did it, that big story as well going forward as well as unpacking what’s going on with all those other characters. Very complex, but satisfying and enjoyable as well.”
