Crime writer Daniel Sellers may still be fairly new to the writing scene, but by the end of this year, he will have published eight books in just three years.

His latest book, The Devil’s Smile, is set to be released in hardback on Thursday, August 21.

It is the sequel to a two-part series that draws upon his experiences growing up in the dark heartland of the Yorkshire Ripper in the early 90s, as well as part of the under-represented LGBTQIA+ communities in the north.

To celebrate the releases, a launch event is being held at Daydreams Bookshop in Milngavie at 7pm on Wednesday, August 27.

He told the Advertiser: “It is a big turning point for me. It has been almost three years since I published my first book, and to think by the end of this year there will be eight books with my name on them is hard to imagine.

“I can’t wait for readers to greet Adrian and Sheila once more in The Devil’s Smile, which features the murder of Sheila’s TV co-host – during a live broadcast of their show! It turns out the co-host has been leading something of a double life, to put it mildly.”

However, it is sad news for Lola Harris fans as the last book in the series, Murder in the Glen, will be published on November 27.

Daniel said: “I think it’s a very exciting case for Lola, though the ending might shock a few readers. Lola is definitely going out with a bang. I have loved writing about Lola in Glasgow, but I am ready to leave her behind and focus on crimes in the beautiful landscape of Argyll.

“I’ve signed a six-book deal with Boldwood Books for a brand-new series called The Scottish Highland Killings, set in Argyll, particularly around the coast and islands.”

“The starting point seems to be the places. I knew I wanted to set something in Knapdale which is remote and beautiful before thinking about the crime itself and who is going to be involved.”

He continued: “I’m so excited about the new series and have been taking day trips with my dog Rasmus to Knapdale.

“I’m planning research trips to some of the islands too. Watch this space for exciting mysteries that make the most of beautiful Argyll.

“I will be doing a few book signings across England and Scotland which is always such a lovely experience and a great way to promote the books.”

He has garnered so many fans already in his relatively short writing career. We can’t wait to bring his brilliant writing to an even bigger global audience.”

Daniel is currently running a special promotion where, if readers pre-order The Devil’s Smile before August 21, they can receive an exclusive short story featuring characters from the series.
