A second innings in the County Championship this season for Joe Root, and a second half-century.
Having made 96 against Sussex last time out, the England lynchpin reaches another 50 with a single just after lunch.
It’s not without an alarm, first though – a big appeal when he was 49, but there may have been two noises and it looked just outside the line of off stump as well.
Root has now made a half century or better in each of his last six matches in all formats – 160 against Australia in the fifth Ashes Test; 61, 75 and 111 not out in the three one-day internationals against Sri Lanka, and the two Championship scores this season.
