The May bank holiday weekend is here, meaning many people will be enjoying Saturday, Sunday and Monday away from work and school.

But while an extra long weekend is a great time to relax and see friends and family, it does mean some shops will be altering their opening times. Unlike Christmas Day and Easter Sunday, shops are not forced by law to close on bank holidays, however many will operate reduced opening hours to allow staff members to enjoy some additional time off.

Supermarkets, including Aldi, Lidl, Tesco and Sainsbury’s, are among stores which often operate on reduced opening hours, during bank holidays. So if you are in need of some essentials on Bank Holiday Monday, it is advised that you check whether your local supermarket is open before heading down.
