Simon Yates won the Giro a year ago with a thrilling solo attack on the penultimate stage.But the Brit will not be back to defend his title after announcing his retirement from cycling.
There will still be a Yates at the race, however, as Simon’s brother Adam (UAE Team Emirates-XRG) is set to compete, and indeed lead his team in Italy.
