Wigan trains RECAP as person found dead on railway with services cancelled

Railway lines have been blocked north of Wigan as emergency services deal with an incident.

Services have been stopped between Wigan North Western and Preston stations this morning.

It is affecting trains run by Avanti West Coast, between London and Scotland, and local Northern services.

National Rail says services could be cancelled and delayed this morning, with disruption expected to last until at least 9am.

Further details about the nature of the incident are yet to be confirmed.
