At 4.45 pm on Tuesday, May 5, police responded to a report that a woman had been seriously assaulted at an address in Firsdown, Salisbury.
Police arrived at the scene and searched the area, but the attacker was not found, and no arrests have been made.
A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “At 4.45 pm today, officers responded to a report that a woman had been seriously assaulted at an address in Firsdown, Salisbury.
“The woman has been taken to hospital.
“No arrests have been made at this stage, however, extensive searches are currently ongoing and those living in the local area may see a heightened police presence during the evening as enquiries continue.”
Bishopdown Road has been closed, and armed police and police helicopters have been seen in the area.
