Xbox Series X Gets 4K Resolution Increase For Gamerpics & Other Artwork 2

We’ve got a little improvement coming to the Xbox Series X, starting today for some Xbox Insiders!

It’s been shared by Xbox engineer Eden Marie on social media that anyone who uses their Xbox Series X in 4K resolution will be benefiting from a resolution increase for gamerpics and “certain game or achievement art”.

Marie actually describes this as a “fix”, so it’s possible that its absence in the past was actually an error, but nevertheless it’s now being officially implemented in this latest update.

Since this is mostly a resolution fix with no other significant visual changes, it might be hard to recognize the difference by memory. Here’s some before/after comparisons: pic.twitter.com/Gq6RgtGBFS— Eden Marie (@neonepiphany) May 5, 2026

Those comparisons aren’t very easy to see in the tweet, so we’ll make them bigger for you below:

In some follow-up replies, Marie clarifies that it’s just the resolution that’s changing with these images (they’re not being replaced with higher-quality versions or anything), and that the recent achievement refresh also offers visual improvements — that one’s also just for Xbox Insiders for now, but will be part of the May 2026 update later this month.

We assume the 4K resolution increase for these gamerpics and other artwork might go into the May update for all Xbox users too, but either way, we’ll let you know in a few weeks’ time. Just keep in mind that this is for Xbox Series X only, and there’s no word on a resolution bump when it comes to the Xbox Series S.
