Hull FC will remain without several players going into next Sunday’s game at Bradford Bulls. The Black and Whites take on the West Yorkshire side at Odsal on May 17, with Andy Last stating that only Ligi Sao is set to be back in the fold at this stage.
The prop has had to pass his final return to play protocols after a failed HIA in order to feature again and is expected to take the field. Otherwise, it will be a similar group of players to select from as Hull look to respond after last week’s disappointing defeat to Toulouse Olympique.
Harvey Barron will be in the conversation, with the winger fit again after a recent ankle injury. He faces a battle with Tom Briscoe and Lewis Martin for the two wing spots, with the veteran preferred for the Toulouse clash.
Elsewhere, Last has confirmed Hull will remain without Will Pryce (ACL), Herman Ese’ese (Achilles), Jed Cartwright (hamstring), John Asiata (hamstring), Sam Lisone (pec), Arthur Romano (ankle), and Joe Ward (ACL). Of course, Pryce and Ward are out for the remainder of the year, with Asiata and Lisone not expected back until the final rounds of the regular season.
On a lighter note, Ese’ese and Cartwright are making good progress. Both players are running once again, and while Last didn’t put a timeframe on either player, it’s fair to suggest they could return at some point in May.
Romano is also looking to battle back after ankle surgery. He was one of Hull’s best players before his injury and could return within the next couple of months.
The Black and Whites take on Bradford and Leigh Leopards away from home to end the month of May. They sit ninth in Super League after ten rounds, with four wins and six defeats to their name.
