Celtic v Rangers – Scottish Premiership Preview

Rangers fans have been told to turn up to Parkhead more than two hours early for their clash with Celtic this weekend – and warned face coverings are BANNED.

Just over 2,000 travelling fans will be in the away corner at Celtic Park after weeks of debate over the allocation.

The Hoops initially told Rangers they’d have no supporters in attendance after they failed to assure them the Union Bears ultras would not be sold tickets.

That demand came amid the fallout from April’s Scottish Cup shame game at Ibrox that saw both sets of fans encroach the pitch following Celtic‘s penalty shootout victory.

Rangers however later agreed to comply after the ultras section stepped aside. They’ve since urged the Ibrox punters who will be in attendance to stage an away end blackout.

The 2,268 who will be in attendance have now been asked turn up at the east side of the stadium from 9.30am for the 12pm kickoff.

And an official club statement warned that any punters who arrive later than 10am, two hours before the action starts, may be ‘held until after kickoff.’

They’ve also warned away supporters could be held for up to 25 minutes after the game, subject to a ‘dynamic decision by Police Scotland on the day.’

The game is set to be heavily policed after the chaos that unfolded at Ibrox in April and supporters have been handed a list of prohibited items.

That includes face coverings after a number of those who stormed the pitch at Ibrox used them to conceal their identities.

Fans will not be allowed to bring reinforced gloves, drums, megaphones, flagpoles, or flags which exceed 2m x 1m in size.

They’ve also been warned pyrotechnics are strictly banned and any supporter found in possession of one will be arrested.
