Scheffler’s rivals at the PGA Championship looked worn out following their round
In tough conditions at Quail Hollow, Scheffler shot a stunning 65 in the third round before clinching glory the following day.
His Saturday round included seven birdies and an eagle while he played Quail Hollow’s infamous Green Mile in two-under to impose himself on the major tournament.
Scheffler was playing the third round alongside South Korea’s Si Woo Kim and Ryder Cup team-mate Max Homa.
Kim shot a level-par round of 71 while Homa endured a five-over 76, leaving them both out of contention.

After finishing their rounds, the trio retired to the scorer’s hut to sign their scorecards and reflect on their efforts.
And the behind-the-scenes moment was picked up by fans around the world on social media.
As Scheffler noted down the scores of his stunning round, Kim and Homa could be seen next the two-time Masters champion looking shell-shocked.
With shoulders slumped and a glazed look across their faces, the golfing duo summed up what it would feel like for us mere mortals to play a round alongside the greatness of Scheffler.
Kim and Homa have ten PGA Tour wins between them but neither could come close to Scheffler’s imperious form at Quail Hollow and their reactions post-round laid that bare.
Scheffler shot a final round 71 to ease to victory last year, beating his rivals by five-strokes to claim the Wanamaker Trophy.

A couple of months later, he then produced his best again at Royal Portrush to secure Open glory too.
Scheffler is now just a US Open victory away from becoming a Grand Slam champion and he will no doubt have a say when the major heads to Shinnecock Hills next month.
Before that, Scheffler will hope to defend his PGA Championship title at Aronimink Golf Club this week.
The four-time major winner is the favourite for glory in Pennsylvania.
He won the American Express in January and has three-straight runner-ups in his last three starts, including at The Masters last month.

Comparisons to Tiger Woods have continued this year and should he complete the Grand Slam this summer, those discussion will only increase.
“It’s pretty wild,” said Scheffler after winning the American Express.
“It has been a great start to my career and I’ve had some nice wins out there. It has been special and I try not to think about that stuff too much.
“Going into the season, I was just trying to do the things I needed to do in order to be prepared to come out and play this week.
