Police close in on Theo’s killer as Kit spots an important detail

Coronation Street spoilers have confirmed a “crucial detail” is set to be exposed as part of the gripping whodunnit storyline. The six potential suspects continued to be questioned next week, but George and Christina are horrified by what they find in Summer’s journal. Meanwhile, Maggie finds herself caught up in more lies, and Daniel is the target of some online trolls.
At the start of the week, Kit reassures Todd they’re closing in on Theo’s killer but his words make Summer shift uncomfortably. As George tidies up he accidentally knocks over Summer’s bag and is horrified to see a page from her journal that describes putting a gun to Theo’s head.
As George and Christina read through her journal, they’re startled by Summer’s sudden return. Meanwhile, looking through Lisa’s wedding photos, Kit spots a crucial detail that could implicate Summer.
After Kit’s revelation, Lisa takes Summer in for questioning. On the street, Todd defends Summer to Lisa. As George later quizzes Summer about Theo’s death and a flashback reveals what he saw on the night, how will Summer react? Summer furiously confronts George over his accusations, suggesting that he was the one responsible for Theo’s murder.

When Summer finds Asha and Nina gossiping about her, Gary steps in and takes her to the yard for a brew. But when Christina is caught out in a lie to the police, she panics and advises George to tell Lisa what he saw. What will George do?
George confides in Christina that he’s told the police about Summer’s lies. When Christina remarks that it’ll only be a matter of time before they come after her, a panicky Summer who has overheard slips out of the door. When Todd bumps into Summer carrying a hold-all, Summer explains that she’s worried the police are going to arrest her for Theo’s murder so she’s spoken to her university in the States and is flying out this afternoon. Will Summer make her getaway?
Summer remembers a witness who could back up her alibi. Will they be able to prove her innocence and has she made it to the US?
A guilty George confesses to Todd that he told Lisa about Summer and potentially implicated her. How will Todd react?
Elsewhere, Maggie is caught up in more lies, but when Ben arrives home to find Eva comforting his sobbing mother, can he accept her plea to go easy on Maggie?
Ben takes a call from the police to say Megan has been released on bail. When Maggie appears for their family lunch, revealing Ollie invited her, Ben’s unimpressed.

Over lunch, Ben breaks the news to Will that Megan’s out on bail. Maggie’s horrified and assures Will that she’ll protect him but Ben loses his temper and drops the bombshell on Ollie and Will.
Will admits to Tim that he can’t relax knowing that Megan has been released. Ben tries to book a family holiday, but their plans are interrupted when Susie’s fierce family loyalty causes more drama for the Driscolls.
Ben receives a call that Will failed to turn up for his PE exam. Finding Will in the precinct, Bethany draws on her own experience of being groomed to try and offer support. However, when she touches his hand, a volatile Will erupts, accusing her of touching him up.
Elsewhere on the cobbles, Daniel confides in Jodie that he doesn’t feel ready to face the world just yet. Jodie tells him that she ran into Cassie and makes out that Bertie is really missing him and he needs to pull himself together. Daniel calls to collect Bertie from number one only to discover he’s been having the time of his life.
Daniel returns home and rounds on Jodie for lying to him. When Jodie explains that she did it for his own good, will Daniel soften?
Nina shows Daniel and Jodie some vile online posts, suggesting Daniel knew about Megan grooming Will and that he was once guilty of grooming Summer.

Daniel confides in Jodie that Truthteller, his internet troll, is clearly someone who knows him well. Spotting David by the bar, Jodie suggests it could be him.
When Jodie announces that it’s her birthday, Daniel’s surprised and offers to treat her to lunch. As Nick presents Jodie with a birthday cake everyone sings, the moment is ruined when Shona arrives and reveals that Jodie’s birthday isn’t until December.
Fiz voices her concerns to Carla that Sarah has lost her confidence since the attack. When Carla suggests Michael take over some of her work, Sarah takes offence. Roy proudly shows Fiz and Chesney the newly decorated café.
Michael covers for Sarah after she makes an error on an order. As Sarah loses her temper, Carla urges her to take time off, later finding her drunk in the Rovers.
Carla calls Sarah into the office and, after revealing that she’s putting Michael in charge of the new contract, orders her to take some time off as she’s clearly not herself.
