The teenage Cumbrian, who won a string of world, European and domestic titles as an amateur, will box as a pro for the first time in October.
Carrigan, 18, is part of top promoter Frank Warren’s Queensbury stable, and will fight at the Next King of Scotland show in Glasgow.
The Border City Amateur Boxing Club star appeared at a press conference this week (watch below) where host Dev Sahni said: “Some are calling him [Carrigan] the best prospect in world boxing.”
Carrigan said he can’t wait for his first fight since turning professional in May.
Asked by Sahni what “all the fuss” was about, the Carlisle boxer said: “We’re gonna see on October 4.
“I’ve turned pro, I’ve done all I can as an amateur, won most things that people can as an amateur – and I’m ready to prove it on October 4.
“I’ve definitely got itchy knuckles now. Time is coming.
“I’ve trained for three or four months since turning pro. I haven’t rushed into anything, I’ve made sure I’m ready.”
Asked about his goals now, Carrigan added: “I’m looking forward to getting my pro debut out of the way, keeping the ball rolling, getting a few more fights. But the bigger picture is being world champion one day.”
Carrigan’s welterweight opponent at the show in Scotland in October has yet to be announced.
The teenager enjoyed a stellar amateur career, capped by winning the World Under-19 title at 70kg last year.
As well as being part of Warren’s Queensberry stable, Carrigan is managed by the legendary American, Shelly Finkel.
The young Cumbrian now trains at the Tenacity gym in the north east.
